What is National Work Zone Awareness Week 2024?

National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) highlights the consequences of inattentiveness around work zones. From April 15 – 19, participants can engage in a variety of educational activities to promote work zone safety.

Here’s how you can get involved.

How to Recognize National Work Zone Awareness Week 2024

For every day of NWZAW, MDOT has a recommended activity to show your support of work zone safety.

    • April 15: Kick off NWZAW with Work Zone Safety Training Day. Take time to self-educate on best practices when driving through work zones using resources like nwzaw.org.
    • April 16: Take this day to thank a work zone worker for their willingness to labor even amidst the risk.
    • April 17: Go Orange Day is an opportunity to wear all things orange to spread awareness of NWZAW.
    • April 18: Join the social media storm and post a NWZAW-related post with the hashtag #NWZAW.
    • April 19: On the final day of NWZAW, take a moment of silence to commemorate the lives of men and women who lost their lives in a work zone safety related incident.
