Driver Appreciation Week is more than just an opportunity to thank drivers–it’s a time to celebrate them. With our driver spotlight series, we are sharing the stories of carriers from all walks of life.
Special thanks to the wonderful drivers that allowed us to share their experiences.

EL: Thanks again for your willingness to share your experience. How long have you been in the industry?
Chuck: I’m a fifth-generation driver. I grew up in it.
EL: That’s incredible. How many years have you been doing it personally?
Chuck: I’ve had my CDL for 31 years.
EL: Given your 31 years in trucking, what motivates you to be such an exceptional driver?
Chuck: I have a passion for the industry. Every aspect of it. I love what I do.
EL: It sounds like there’s a legacy that you’re carrying on as well.
Chuck: Yeah, but I am a first-generation owner, however.
EL: Oh?
Chuck: My grandfather owned a truck and leased with a company for a few years, but I’m the only one who ever expanded a fleet.
EL: Why did you decide to start your own business?
Chuck: I knew that I wanted to take on a business myself! I knew I could. I didn’t want to rely on another when I knew I had what it takes to start my own.
EL: And what feeds that passion?
Chuck: It’s the lifestyle. Trucking gives you much freedom. You wouldn’t understand it unless you’ve lived it. There are no words to describe it.
EL: I’m sure as we are sharing this spotlight with some other carriers, that may strike a chord with them.
Chuck: Sure. In fact, two gentlemen you may know are good friends of mine. One is the owner of C.R. England, Gene England, and his son, Jeff England, the owner of Pride Transportation. They understand how I feel about trucking.
They’re both very inspirational to me. They’re very, very good at what they do.
EL: I love hearing that. I’m sure they feel the same about you.
Last, crucial question: What makes your rig unique?
Chuck: It’s got a ton of horsepower. I keep it old-school looking. It’s better that way.
EL: Sometimes, that is the way to go, Chuck.
