England Logistics welcomed Sheena to the Salt Lake City fuel division team in November 2016. However, she quickly found her niche and transferred to the operations support team in February 2017, where she now works as the Billing Team Lead. What brought you to England Logistics?
I had been working graveyard shifts and wanted a job that allowed me to be home with my family in the evening. One of my previous co-workers had started working at EL, and since I was familiar with the industry, I decided to check it out.
How is England Logistics different than other companies you’ve worked for?
EL is more organized and team-oriented. In my previous job, nobody wanted to help each other and you felt as if you were on your own. At EL, everybody pitches in.
What has been your most memorable moment at England Logistics?
I’ve never worked at a company where they play games and have activities like that. Dodgeball really gives you a chance to see different sides of people.
Which EL core value in COACH Team (Career, Open communication, Accountability, Celebration, Hard work, Team) means the most to you and why?
Open communication. You can’t have the other values without communication.
How does the 2018 theme “Live Limitless” match your own passions?
I’m very driven. When I first started, I wasn’t planning on making a career at EL. I was planning on going into real estate and just needed a job while I was enrolled in school. However, when I was offered my current role, I realized I could do more at EL. It developed into a career rather than a job.
Do you have any advice for new or potential England Logistics employees?
Ask questions and communicate. Come in with an open mind and talk to other departments, but remember that everyone has a single perspective. Take the time to learn what everyone does because our jobs all tie together and we rely on each other.
What’s your favorite work snack?
Salted almonds.
What do you do for fun?
My kids play football, so I’m usually at their games or practices. We also like to fish and hike. My dad has a house on the lake in Stansbury Park, so we like to go enjoy the outdoors there.
What’s your favorite show to binge watch?
One Tree Hill. I’ve probably watched it five times.
What’s your favorite/dream vacation spot?
I’d love to go to Hawaii someday.
What inspires you?
My kids. I also admire people that come from different backgrounds and situations but choose to pull through and achieve their goals.
What is your greatest achievement?
My kids. I have three boys and one girl.
What keyword or motto do you live by?
Believe in yourself!
What’s your favorite training program?
ELevation. During the course, we go around the table and hear others’ perspectives. I think that’s really helpful.
