Michael is celebrating his three year anniversary this month as an ECS Fuel Account Manager in our Salt Lake City office. Since joining England Logistics, Michael has built lasting relationships with his team while developing his career. Learn more about Michael and his experience at England Logistics!
What brought you to England Logistics?
My neighbor referred me. He gave me a call because he thought I would enjoy working here. I interviewed at EL just a few days later, and the rest is history.
How is England Logistics different than other companies you’ve worked for?
The biggest difference is that this team is a family. We go through so many trials and celebrate so many successes together. I would equate EL with the same chemistry I experienced in the Marine Corps. You get your marching orders, but it’s more than a job. We’re changing lives. You never know what shipment is going to help someone. This family is what makes EL the success that it is.
What has been your most memorable moment at England Logistics?
There have been several experiences that have brought us together. One example was when one of our teammates passed away. It was a time when we could have given in to the sadness, but instead, we chose to celebrate his life together and comfort one another. We’ve also had a lot of experiences to help others and give our time through the One It’s encouraging to work for a company that’s focused on a bigger goal.
Which EL core value in COACH Team (Career, Open communication, Accountability, Celebration, Hard work, Team) means the most to you and why?
Hard work. It takes hard work as an individual and as a team to succeed.
How does the 2018 theme “Live Limitless” match your own passions?
It’s a mantra that makes us want to work harder and be smarter. Whether we’re focusing on achieving new accomplishments with customers or the One Initiative, we work to reach new limits.
Do you have any advice for new or potential EL employees?
You have to realize that when you walk in the door, you’re already related. You just have to get to know the rest of your family. In doing so, you’ll find that it’s not as intense as it may initially seem. It takes a network to help you grow both professionally and personally. Be willing to accept the feedback you receive, because we all gravitate to helping new team members succeed.
What’s your favorite work snack?
Skittles.
What do you do for fun?
I volunteer a lot. I love serving the elderly in the community and even helping the younger “kids” here. It makes my day when they’ll come to me and say, “Hey pops, I need something.” I also enjoy drawing. I use a pencil and a lot of charcoal.
What’s your favorite show to binge watch?
I love “Longmire” and “The Last Ship.”
What’s your favorite/dream vacation spot?
California Redwoods.
What inspires you?
People of all ages that are willing to step out of the comfort zone and take on a challenge.
What is your greatest achievement?
My family and all of our accomplishments. I’ve enjoyed seeing my children grow up, each of them healthy and with strong minds.
What keyword or motto do you live by?
I always say, “At the end of the day…” I think it’s important to consider the big picture.
What’s your favorite training program?
Personally, I think the best training program is our kickoff events. We see the numbers and learn about the direction of the company. We get to hear from Jason and see his passion and drive that we can then apply to ourselves.
