The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) released a regulation requiring most carriers and drivers who are currently required to maintain paper records of duty status (RODS) to install Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) on their vehicles. The regulation will go into effect December 18, 2017. This is the date that inspectors will begin issuing citations and fines for non-compliance.
If a truck is still non-compliant by April 1, 2018 the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) will officially put the vehicle out-of-service.
The good news is that the same team you trust for your fuel, tires and factoring services now provides ELD purchase options with Omnitracs, a global pioneer of fleet management software.
