Partnering with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the CVSA is dedicating the week to the improvement of unsafe driving behavior by encouraging law personnel to be on the lookout for reckless driving.<\/p>\n<p>The CVSA\u2019s Safe Driver Program was designed to reduce the number of accidents, and consequently injuries, that result from unsafe driving behavior. The program\u2019s primary goal is to provide safe driving education and enforce the habits that will enable all drivers to be safe. This is a focused effort looking for behaviors like moving violations, speeding, and checking mobile devices while driving.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Safe Driver Week is placing a special emphasis on speeding. Often drivers feel the need to speed and meet their impending deadlines, but the CVSA declares that \u201cLate Won\u2019t Kill, Speeding Will.\u201d Drivers can fall behind schedule for a variety of different reasons, but the CVSA makes it clear that safety is more important than punctuality.<\/p>\n<p>Proper truck maintenance is important to ensure your speedometer stays in check. Several factors can influence the calibration and accuracy of your speedometer. Be sure to regularly self-test your speed monitoring equipment to determine if there are issues that need to be addressed.
