The England Logistics team is made up of focused, committed and downright delightful individuals. As one of the nation’s top freight brokerage firms, our success and reputation are due to the unique skills and personalities that each member of our team contributes. To help you get to know the people behind England Logistics, we are highlighting an employee each month and sharing their story.

England Logistics welcomed Craig to the Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) team in 2015. His knack for enhancing business connections led him to later join the Authorized Agents team as the LTL and carrier procurement manager. Learn more about Craig and his experience at England Logistics!

My career has provided me with a lot of experience in the logistics industry. I moved from the Bay Area to Utah and wanted to continue working in transportation. EL has a great reputation throughout the industry, so I looked into it.

EL is focused on developing and enhancing our culture. I’ve been at companies that require you to assimilate to their already existing culture. Here you can have input on the culture and contribute to it.

Moving into my current position was a great moment because I feel that it’s really suited to me. I was able to meet with the LTL and parcel director and map out my path. I faced some learning experiences at first, but I’ve had great success overall. I’m riding a wave that I really enjoy right now. A lot of that sweat, toil and hard work is coming to fruition.

There are some things that you can’t dodge, so hard work really becomes important. Hard work can mean different things whether it’s staying in the moment with a carrier or reading up on the industry over the weekend. It’s thinking outside of the box, putting in the extra time and developing your knowledge.

I think I’ve experienced more than most people. My manager understands my skill set and I’ve learned how to fill my weaknesses with resources. I can’t perform my job without teaming up with somebody, either internally or externally.

I felt like I had all of the answers when I joined EL. I had to learn some hard lessons. What you find is that EL’s culture is unique and you can do tremendous things as you learn to understand it. Sometimes that means getting to know the people around you that are successful and learning from them. Just remember that there are things that make you shine. You got the job for a reason, so learn how to utilize those skills. EL provides a lot of resources, so become a sponge and soak it all in. Those are the moments that you grow the most.

Peanut M&Ms. I totally justify that peanuts are good for you.

I weight lift and have a group of friends that I love to work out with. Sometimes we’re serious about it, and sometimes not so much!

I love Game of Thrones. I also just finished watching a really interesting one called “Tin Star.” Another one I love is “The Punisher.”

Aruba is fantastic! It’s really unique in its culture because of the Dutch/Spanish languages. The beaches are also amazing.

When it comes to thinking about who I work for, it’s my family. I want them to look to me for setting the bar. I find motivation in passing on my experience. I also like to win; I really like to win. I like setting the example to get everyone to win.

For me, that’s more of a parenting question, and I would say raising productive kids that are self-sufficient is my greatest achievement. You never stop parenting, but you get to a point where they’re on a path.

This is specific to me, but I repeat the goal that I’m currently working on to myself each day. That goal becomes all consuming. It’s healthy and constructive for me. I come to work thinking about what am I going to work on that’s going to be more productive than the previous week. Having that goal in the back of my mind allows me to dig in and keep going.

Our COACHTeam core values, which are taught in every training course, mean a lot to me. You see it applied on every level throughout the company. You can’t deny that each element of it is alive and well in our culture.

###

Interested in working with Craig and the rest of our amazing team?
