England Logistics welcomed Elli to the ECS Fuel team as an account manager in 2016. However, she quickly found a love for pairing people with jobs that match their strengths and moved to the recruiting team. Learn more about Elli and her experience at England Logistics!
What brought you to England Logistics?
I didn’t know what England Logistics was. I was connected with one of EL’s recruiters who posted a job opening on social media. So, I just went for it and started as an account manager.
How is England Logistics different than other companies you’ve worked for?
This was my first position in a corporate setting. At all of my other jobs, you just go in and work and it doesn’t really pay off. But here, you put in the effort to move up. I know that if I continue to do what I’m doing I can grow professionally and personally.
What has been your most memorable moment at England Logistics?
I was pretty excited to become a recruiter. I got more involved with company events and connected with the Senior Director of Recruiting, Adam. When the position opened, I knew it was a perfect fit. I was ecstatic when I was offered the position.
Which EL core value in COACH Team (Career, Open communication, Accountability, Celebration, Hard work, Team) means the most to you and why?
They all mean something to me. Career means a lot to me since I started here right out of college and was able to work hard to build my career. Accountability is also translated everywhere at EL. I’ve especially appreciated open communication. In both of my jobs at EL I’ve had great managers who meet with me one-on-one. They’ve helped me improve, and you know they want to improve too.
How does the 2019 theme “Team Up” match your own passions?
To me “Team Up” means not only growing your personal team, but working with other teams to grow as a company. I work with each of the divisions all the time. The more I can learn about what they do, the better I can hire for them. It’s all about building cross-divisional relationships.
Do you have any advice for new or potential EL employees?
I would say build relationships with your team, your manager and across the company. Not only does it help you enjoy your job, but it also helps you build connections for wherever you go in your career. That way you can find where you’ll fit and excel in the company.
What’s your favorite work snack?
Is coffee a snack?
What do you do for fun?
I like to skydive during the summer and ski during the winter. I also love backpacking and hiking. I just like to be outside all times of the year. I also like doing nothing.
What’s your favorite show to binge watch?
Probably “Game of Thrones” and “Parks and Recreation.”
What’s your favorite/dream vacation spot?
Right now, I want to go to Japan. They get a lot of snow and I want to go on a ski trip.
What inspires you?
I love to play and do the things I enjoy. I know to do those things, I have to work. I want to work hard now so I can play.
What is your greatest achievement?
As cliché as this is, it was getting my college degree. I was the first one in my family to graduate and I didn’t think I’d be able to do it. Getting a degree has had a ripple effect and set me up well.
What keyword or motto do you live by?
I like to keep it simple both professionally and personally. Keep it simple in all things.
What’s your favorite training program at EL?
I’ve been taking Leaders in Development. I’ve learned a lot and it’s cool to see how it’ll apply to my future career.
