Cargo Claim Basics
To better serve your needs, we recommend and offer Marine Cargo Insurance for vessel, aircraft, railroad and truck. Insurance will protect shipper and/or consignee when losses occur by providing full coverage of value or replacement cost.
 
If a claim arises, please provide the following:
  1. Evidence of Insurance, provide copy of certificate.
  2. Itemized Statement of Claim noting amount of loss and/or repair or replacement estimates, and nature of damage. 
  3. Delivery and Dock Receipts noting exceptions.
  4. Notices to Carrier(s) and replies received.
  5. Bill of Lading (Front & Back of any House & Master Bills).
  6. Commercial Invoices. 
  7. Packing List. 
  8. Pictures, photographs, and photocopies of any other physical evidence.
  9. Survey report (required for claims exceeding $500).
  10. C.F. 3461 or 7501 forms. 
Please remember that the time limits for filing claims are critical.
 
For ocean shipments, it's one year from scheduled delivery.  Please contact our Legal/Insurance/Claims and Collections Department for further assistance.
 

It is imperative that you inform us immediately in writing of any losses, whether or not you are covered by insurance
